Matt Cunningham
"I live in Sonoma County, California. I teach English at a middle school, but I was a butcher before that, and a cook before that. No matter what my day job has been, I have always felt the need to create, either through writing or through some sort of visual medium.
My themes include 80's cartoons, Atari 2600, horror movies, folklore, western and detective pulps, astronauts, gorillas, lethal rainbows, sentient prisms, skeletons leading lives independent of their owners, and undercover robots lurking just beneath the skin. My inspiration for the collage technique is inspired in part by Kid Koala's turntable albums, and in part by William Burroughs' cut-up technique.
Much of my work is informed by my love of the comic books of the late 80s and early 90s - Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol, the technicolor adventures of Shade the Changing Man, Dave McKean's Sandman covers, as well as the beautiful idiocy of Bob Burden's Flaming Carrot Comics, to name a few."
